HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage
This qualification HLT52015 Diploma Remedial Massage provides the skills required for competence in remedial massage practice and practitioners at this level may be self-employed as independent practitioners or may work within a larger health service.
Practitioners at this level may supervise other massage therapists.
It covers the provision of remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as:
aged care, women and children.
Graduates with the highest-level industry qualification lead to many career options. Graduates may also apply to Private Health funds for provider numbers, allowing clients to claim rebates for remedial treatments.
Graduates may also apply for a Provider Number for Remedial Massage under the VWA – Victorian WorkCover Authority, which will allow them to treat work related injuries.
Remedial Massage Therapists utilise a wide range of specialised techniques to treat general and specific musculoskeletal problems, soft tissue injuries, and to assist in the prevention and management of injuries. These injuries vary, however may be work related, stress related or sporting injury issues.
Remedial techniques can include the stimulating or sedating effects of Remedial Massage, such as facilitated stretching, lymphatic drainage, deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, mobilisation, etc.
Remedial Massage students acquire a wide range of practical & professional skills. Various situations are exposed to students allowing them to individually assess each client, develop hypotheses & arrange treatment strategies. The aim is to provide a remedial massage or arrange a series of suitable treatments.
Students gain knowledge & expertise to develop professional relationships and confidently communicate with our health care professionals, from Medical Doctors to Occupational Health Therapists.
